Trek to Laguna 69: A Breathtaking Adventure Awaits

Lake 69 hike is a full-day trekking trip with breath-taking views and beautiful lakes of different colors. One of the best-known day treks with blue and turquoise lakes that feature in virtually all promotional materials for the Cordillera Blanca and Huascarán National Park. A moderate to demanding day trek requires a medium level of fitness and some acclimatization, which will ensure you can enjoy every minute of the fantastic panoramas that the Llanganuco area provides. Perú’s highest mountain, Huascarán, at 6,768m, is also visible from various trek sections. Huaraz.

05:00 am
We leave the city of Huaraz, heading north toward Yungay.
6:30 am
We leave the main road and enter the Quebrada Llanganuco, passing through picturesque Andean villages.
7:00 am
Short stop at the stunning Chinancocha Lagoon for breakfast and photo opportunities.
8:00 am
After a 3-hour drive from Huaraz, we reach the trailhead and begin our hike towards Laguna 69.

A 50-minute walk through a scenic forest, gradually transitioning into an open valley with a slight ascent.
9:40 am
We start the first steep hill, which consists of two zig-zag sections connected by a long, gradual ascent (1 hour) leading to a small lake.
10:40 am
After crossing a small plain, we begin the final 200m ascent over 1km, a challenging 45-minute climb up the steepest section of the trail.
11:30 am
We reach the stunning blue waters of Laguna 69, surrounded by breathtaking views of Chacraraju (6,108m), Nevado Pisco, Nevado Huascarán (6,768m), and Nevado Yanapaccha (5,469m).
12:30 pm
Enjoy a packed lunch while taking in the spectacular scenery and crystal-clear waters.
1:30 pm
We begin our hike back down to Cebollapampa.
3:30 pm
End of the trek, where our private transport will be waiting.
4:00 pm
We drive back to Huaraz, retracing our route through the Quebrada Llanganuco and Yungay.
6:30 pm
Arrival in Huaraz and end of the tour.
